Troyanda, meaning “rose,” weaves passion, artistry, and tradition through Canadian Ukrainian dance.

OUR STORY

Troyanda respects and preserves Ukrainian culture, history, and tradition through the art of dance. Since 1979, the Ensemble is honoured to have collaborated with many notable Canadian and Ukrainian artists to develop an extensive repertoire representing the rich and diverse regions of Ukraine. Under the artistic direction of Mr. Paul Doroniuk and creative direction of Mrs. Jenn Doroniuk, Troyanda pushes creative boundaries, recognizing the interconnection of Ukrainian and Canadian culture.

Troyanda dancers have amazed audiences worldwide with their charismatic performances and undeniable passion for Ukrainian dance. The Ensemble has performed across Manitoba and Canada, including at Canada’s National Ukrainian Festival in Dauphin, Manitoba, and the Ukrainian Pysanka Festival in Vegreville, Alberta, as well as internationally throughout the United States, Eastern Europe, South America, and Central America.

PAUL DORONIUK

Artistic Director, He/Him

Mr. Doroniuk was trained at the Yavir School of Ukrainian Dance in Toronto, Ontario, where he had the opportunity to learn from various choreographers and Ukrainian folk dance professionals. As a member of the Yavir Ensemble, he performed nationally and internationally at several cultural events. Mr. Doroniuk is a founding member of the bygone Verba Ukrainian Dance Company and was fortunate to spend eight years in a supportive, creative, and project-based setting. Mr. Doroniuk has completed his Level 1 Certificate at the Pavlo Virsky Choreographic School in conjunction with the University of Arts & Culture in Kyiv, Ukraine; Tier 1 Teacher Certification (Shumka Syllabus); and Level 1 Certificate (Rodovid Academy of Ukrainian Dance). Mr. Doroniuk brings over 20 years of teaching experience and has taught at various schools in Manitoba. He is honoured to have been a part of the Troyanda artistic team since 2016.

 
 

JENNIFER DORONIUK

Creative Director, She/Her

Mrs. Doroniuk has taught Ukrainian dance at multiple schools throughout Manitoba over the past 22 years and spent 10 years as the artistic director of Zavirukha Ukrainian Dance School where she has staged multiple storyline productions. Mrs. Doroniuk has studied ballet and jazz and has completed her Level 1 Certificate (Rodovid Academy of Ukrainian Dance); and her Level III Certificate at the Pavlo Virsky Choreographic School, in conjunction with the University of Arts & Culture in Kyiv, Ukraine. Mrs. Doroniuk began her love of dance with the Selo Ukrainian Dancers, joined Zavirukha Ukrainian Dance School, and was a performing member and soloist with the Rusalka Ukrainian Dance Ensemble (2002–2011). She was a founding member of the bygone Verba Ukrainian Dance Company (2011–2019) where she was fortunate to create, work, and dance alongside a collective of talented dancers. Mrs. Doroniuk has been involved with Troyanda previously as a répétiteur (Dauphin, 2018) and choreographer and is excited to embark on a new journey as Creative Director with Troyanda Ukrainian Dance Ensemble.
